Many people preparing to take the International English Language Testing System or IELTS assessment find that the speaking test is the most challenging of the four test elements.

I provide one-to-one, online teaching and practice for people preparing to take the IELTS speaking test. I teach people online in all locations worldwide. 

My name is James Stewart, I am a certified English Language teacher. I am a native English speaker born, brought up and educated in England. I have a British English accent.

The IELTS speaking test is a face-to-face interview with an examiner that lasts 11 to 14 minutes. It contains three sections:

• Section 1: introduction and interview (4–5 minutes). You may be asked about your home, family, work, studies, hobbies, interests, reasons for taking IELTS test as well as other general topics such as clothing, free time, computers and the Internet.

• Section 2: long turn (3–4 minutes). You will be given a task card about a particular topic. You have one minute to prepare to talk about this topic. The task card states the points that should be included in your talk and one aspect of the topic which you must explain during the talk. You will be expected to talk about the topic for 2 minutes, after which the examiner may ask you one or two questions.

• Section 3: discussions (4–5 minutes). The third section involves a discussion between you and the examiner, generally the examiner will ask you questions relating to the theme which they have already spoken about in Section 2.

This video is a full IELTS speaking test where the candidate achieved a band 8.5 to 9 result (this result is classified as a very good/expert English speaker).
